We are proud to present ‘Capriole’ – a retrospective exhibition by photographer Nicola Bensley. This highly anticipated collection includes a sublime series of views of a watery Vietnam; takes us into the quiet intensity of convent life; and reveals the secret life of Budapest at night. The exhibition also includes examples of Nicola’s powerful and naturalistic portrait work, alongside animal images with a difference. All the photographs – silver gelatin hand prints on fibre-based paper – will be available to purchase as limited editions.
Nicola works almost exclusively on black and white film. In this way, she eschews the modern fixation for reworked images in favour of the truthfully represented moment. This rigorous method ensures she delivers human expression and emotion, unmediated by the trickery of the digital age.
